There’s a new Coronation Street theory surrounding Lauren Bolton’s “creepy” prison officer, as the character remained locked up.
Joel Deering’s killer was comforted by a prison guard on Monday night, as she sobbed over the idea of losing custody of her baby son Frankie. On the day of the panel to discuss the baby boy’s care, Lauren struggled to cope and was seen crying in her cell.
A prison officer came in and spoke to her, appearing concerned for her wellbeing. Lauren refused to believe him when he said it might all work out for her and Frankie, convinced she would lose her son.
But his concern only sparked a new theory by fans, who were sure there was more to the scenes. Viewers suggested there was too much focus on the guard for it to be a throwaway scene, thinking it was significant.
Now, a theory suggests the mystery officer could in fact be linked to Lauren in some way. While many fans were sure he was just being nice and looking out for Lauren, others couldn’t shake off the idea that he was up to something and that Lauren could face trouble.
Others suggested he was in fact there to support her, but was secretly linked to her too. He was heard asking how she was, before telling her to stay positive about what was ahead.

He asked: “Been getting upset about your little lad again?” He went on: “Try to stay positive. You never know, it still might work out all right for both you.”
Viewers were sure he was being “weird”, with one fan writing on X: “He’s creepy, probably something to do with Nathan and Joel.” Another agreed: “Something to do with Joel,” as a third wrote: “Or just another groomer who thinks she’s an easy target.”
Others wondered if he was linked to her father, and had been asked to look out for her. One fan commented: “Maybe her father sent him to check on her???” Another posted: “Her dad is in prison might be something to do with him.”
Either way, the idea that there was something dodgy about him was repeated by a number of viewers. A viewer shared: “I don’t trust him,” as another commented: “He stood there longer than he needed to.”
Another fan admitted: “Yes my Spidey senses… went ping !! He’s creepy, poor Lauren.” A fourth fan posted: “That guy is trouble and too familiar in his ways… I don’t trust him,” while a fifth fan said: “There’s definitely going to be something with him or else why would they focus on his comments.”
