Coronation Street star Peter Ash has opened up about his character Paul Foreman's tragic exit storyline as he faces a heartbreaking death on the much-loved ITV soap
Coronation Street’s Peter Ash has spilled the beans on his character Paul Foreman’s heart-wrenching exit as he faces a tragic end.
The 39-year-old star, who won over viewers’ hearts since his first appearance on the cobbles in 2018, is set to leave fans reaching for the tissues. Paul’s journey has been peppered with intense plots, and now he’s grappling with the devastating effects of Motor Neurone Disease.
As Paul’s health deteriorates, his loved ones are struggling to accept the grim reality that he’s running out of time. Opening up about his role on the ITV favourite, Peter joined the This Morning sofa, getting real about his upcoming departure.
He shared his feelings with hosts Rochelle Humes and Dermot O’Leary, admitting he’s gutted about the goodbye. He confessed: “It was a bit of a double-edged sword really because you trust in this amazing storyline but unfortunately it does mean it comes to an end.”
He continued: “So yeah, mixed feelings! Sad to leave- it’s a great place to work, have so may great friends there, I’ve had a really great time. But also feeling really kind of honoured I guess,” reports the Express.
Corrie pulled out all the stops with a special episode that laid bare the brutal truth of MND. The poignant Friday (July 26) instalment zoomed in on Paul and his hubby Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), capturing a day packed with emotion and cherished moments.
Corrie viewers were left in tears after an emotional episode saw Billy take Paul out for a final trip to memorable spots, including their wedding church and the Rovers for a pint with pals like Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).
But the drama didn’t stop there, as Paul made the heart-wrenching decision to end his life that day. Using his tablet, he communicated his wish to Billy, who was initially against it but eventually agreed to support Paul’s choice.
Their plan hit a snag when Chesney rocked up out of the blue, needing urgent help with his kids after one had an accident. The couple stepped up as uncles, putting Paul’s plans on hold.
The following day, Paul decided to delay his decision, giving the pair more precious time together. However, Corrie fans reckon another character might step in to help Paul, with all eyes on Todd.
