Only recently, Bernie Winter learnt the hard way that she had been set up by her long-lost son Kit, weeks on from them reuniting after decades apart. Kit could not forgive Bernie, but soon claimed the loss of his adoptive mother made him change his mind.
Viewers had seen Kit acting suspiciously just as he told Bernie he wanted to get to know his secret siblings Gemma Winter and Paul Foreman. He claimed he was ready to give her a chance, making her think they could be a family. However, after telling his mum that he wanted them to break the news to Gemma and Paul together, arranging a meet-up at the pub, he went behind her back. Kit raced over to Paul’s flat and got the twins alone, before telling them his real identity.
He explained he was adopted as a baby and that Bernie had lied about his existence, and that they almost met years ago only for Bernie not to show up. He shared his hurt over Bernie abandoning him, and wanted them to know his side of the story. Gemma and Paul could not believe it or their mum’s latest drama. Bernie was horrified when she showed up at the flat and saw them together, after Kit failed to meet her at the pub. Gemma and Paul confronted their mum over the bombshell with their relationship left in tatters.

However, on Monday’s episode, Paul’s husband Billy decided to intervene as he called a family meeting, where Paul played a pre-recorded message telling his loved ones that he is dying and he can’t bear anymore fighting in his family, pointing out he needs his mum more than ever amid his devastating motor neurone disease (MND) diagnosis.
The family were left emotional over Paul’s message and later they had an outing together at the Rovers. During the meeting, Gemma, who is being evicted from her home with Chesney, was sad to hear that there were no properties currently available in her renting range. However, Kit hinted that he had something in mind, revealing it was pretty close.
On Wednesday night, Gemma was left feeling down when she learnt that the landlord was sending someone to view No.5. However, in a shock twist, Summer Spellman was later left stunned to see an estate agent ushering Kit inside No.5 as the latter said it was a bargain, revealing his plans to flip it and rent out.
After news got back to Kit’s family they confronted him as he revealed he was using the money left to him from his adopted mum to buy the property and was planning on renting it to Gemma. Kit said it’s an investment for him and his family get to keep their home, ensuring everyone wins. However, once Kit was alone with Bernie, he made it clear he didn’t like her and was only keeping the peace for his siblings.
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers think Kit has a sinister plan in store and are worried for his family. One person said: “We know Kit hates Bernie, but how does he really feel about the twins? #Corrie”, a different account put: “Dunno. I don’t trust that Kit #corrie”, another wrote: “Still don’t trust kit I want to but not sure #Corrie”, a different viewer said: “Kit has definitely got a nasty, hidden side #Corrie”, another put: “#Corrie now kit will put the rent up” while a different soap watcher added: “Nice of Kit but reckon he has an ulterior motive. They owe him now #Corrie.”
