ITV Coronation Street ‘work out’ who is targeting Abi Webster amid deepfake horror

Coronation Street fans are convinced they’ve figured out who is targeting Abi Franklin after she became the victim of a series of deepfake porn videos this week.

On Wednesday night, her colleague and pal Tyrone Dobbs confirmed he’d received an email containing a sex tape of Abi. Abi was mortified after claiming she’d never filmed a sex video before, worrying that it was something she could not remember from her past. Abi is a recovering drug addict and has admitted in the past that there’s things she doesn’t remember.

Earlier this week, Abi fought back tears and clashed with her husband Kevin Webster, who believed the video was real. As Abi was determined to find out who had sent the video, she said she would go to the police. The video appearing also coincided with her former drug dealer Dean coming back to the show out of nowhere, asking her for money. Cassie Plummer caught their altercation, as Abi demanded he left her alone.

Abi was convinced the person who made the video and then shared it was Dean, who she had been with in the past. On Friday’s episode, she confronted a baffled Dean and was just about to hit him with a wrench before Kevin luckily intervened. Later, in a shock twist, Abi learnt more videos had been uploaded but was confused to find it wasn’t actually her and soon realised they were all deepfakes. Abi then told Kevin that she knew Dean wasn’t responsible as he’s not good with computers as she contemplated who could be behind the evil stunt.

Meanwhile, throughout the episode, Cassie was interested in the ongoing drama as she kept asking Kevin questions and even let slip Abi had been arguing with Dean. Later, Cassie suggested the person responsible must have an in-depth knowledge of computers and Kevin jumped to conclusions that it was Max Turner as he confronted the youngster, who insisted he was innocent. Abi managed to break up the commotion in time as she pointed out it clearly wasn’t Max.

Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers are convinced that Cassie, who previously took a fancy to Kevin and saw Abi as a rival, is responsible especially as she appeared to flirt with Kevin in the episode, commenting that Abi was a lucky woman to have him fighting her corner.

One person said: “Me thinking it could well be conniving Cassie who made that video! #Corrie”, a different account put: “I think Cassie done the sex videos of Abi. #Corrie”, another wrote: “Oh it was 100% cassie #Corrie”, a different soap watcher said: “It’s Cassie doing these video shenanigans ain’t it? #corrie” while another added: “I wouldn’t put it past Cassie #Corrie.”
