ITV Coronation Street’s Leanne Battersby in danger as Rowan plot takes dark turn
Coronation Street's Leanne Battersby will be left in danger next week as the ITV soap's cult storyline with Rowan Cunliffe takes a very dark turn
Coronation Street spoilers for next week have teased a dark twist for Leanne Battersby.
Soap watchers will recall that mysterious newcomer Rowan Cunliffe has targeted Leanne Battersby with his “self-improvement group” The Institute. Rowan has also been pulling Leanne away from partner Nick Tilsley and even her sister Toyah Battersby during her time of need.
Rowan has been encouraging Leanne to open up about her past and the trauma she has faced, using his tools and guiding her to speak aloud about parts of her life. In a shock twist, Rowan was recently revealed to be recording everything Leanne was saying without her knowledge. Of course, viewers will recall that Toyah has been concerned for Leanne and extremely sceptical of Rowan.
In recent scenes, Leanne even headed off to a retreat with the institute and she didn’t even say goodbye to some of her family. In spoilers next week, Toyah prepares for her day in court. She realises it must be Rowan who reported her to the police when she gets a delivery of yellow roses, with Leanne later confessing that she did tell Rowan about what happened with Toyah and her baby. Nick heads back home and tells Leanne she needs to either leave Rowan and the institute – or she needs to leave him. What will she do?
Later in the week, things go from bad to worse when Leanne returns and a guilty Nick quizzes her about Rowan to which an angry Leanne assures him that she would never cheat on him. Meanwhile, a guilty Nick and Toyah agree that their kiss was a mistake with Leanne unaware of their betrayal.
It’s not long until Rowan calls at the Bistro on his motorbike and handing a spare helmet to Leanne, tells her he’s got a surprise for her. Leanne soon follows him out, leaving Nick and Toyah to cope with the lunchtime rush on their own. Leanne’s decision leaves Nick fuming while Toyah is in utter disbelief.
Over at a hotel restaurant, Rowan introduces Leanne to Willow the CEO of the Institute over video call, explaining to a flattered Leanne that she will soon be able to recruit new members herself. However, a dark twist soon airs as Toyah, who has set off for her Institute court case, receives a call which shocks her. It’s not long until Toyah hurries into A&E and tells the nurse on the desk that she had a call to inform her that her sister, Leanne, has been involved in a motorbike accident. Is Leanne okay?
