Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is set to play matchmaker in upcoming Coronation Street scenes when he offers DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) a word of advice.

It’s safe to say that Roy and Lisa have had a strained relationship over the last year, given that the detective sergeant arrested the cafe owner for Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder.

Roy was later released from prison, and Lauren was found alive – though his relationship with Carla Connor (Alison King) had taken a turn for the worse after she supported Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) in giving a false statement to the police.

After Roy’s release, Lisa paid him a visit and urged him to repair his relationship with Carla, pointing out that she wouldn’t want to let a friend like her go.

In upcoming scenes, Roy is set to repay the favour when he sits Lisa down for a similar chat.

At the beginning of next week, Lisa spells out to Carla that she isn’t ready for a relationship, given everything she and daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) have been through in the last few years.

Following their chat, Carla returns to the factory and is horrified to find the place in total disarray.

As she pulls out her phone to report the break-in to the police, she is struck over the head and collapses.

Having caught wind of the attack on Carla, Lisa races to her hospital bedside and wills her to pull through.

However, when Roy and Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) arrive to take Carla home later in the week, she is clearly disappointed when Lisa isn’t with them.

Having picked up on Carla’s feelings, Roy talks to Lisa, urging her to build bridges with the factory boss as it is clear they both like each other.

Will Lisa take Roy’s advice?
