Coronation Street have unveiled an epic new trailer ahead of an explosive week that will see Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) killer unmasked.

The ITV soap has been leading up to this week of special episodes ever since Lauren disappeared from her precinct flat at the end of February.

Since then, the spotlight has been on iconic café worker Roy Cropper (David Neilson) as her murderer, but in recent weeks we’ve seen vile paedophile Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) step into the police’s radar.

Long term viewers will remember that he was responsible for grooming and raping Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) in 2017, and since his return earlier this month, her family have been on the warpath to rid him from Weatherfield.

To what extent will they go to?

Meanwhile, after perverting the court of justice in an attempt to clear Roy’s name, Carla Barlow (Alison King) and Bobby Crawford’s (Jack Carroll) lies are on the brink of exposure.

Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) will continue to fight for his justice, unaware that Lauren’s greatest avenger, far right extremist Griff Reynolds (Michael Condron) has been transferred to the same prison and is seeking revenge.

Roy finds himself in grave danger as Griff decides force a murder confession out of him. Will he live to serve up another bacon sarnie?

Elsewhere, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) is struggling under the weight of the case, unable to decide who to point the finger at. Corrie have teased that there could be more to this mystery than initially meets the eye!

When an invaluable piece of evidence comes to light, the whole case is thrown into the air.

The upcoming instalments will be stripped across five nights, with the first four focussing on the same day through the eyes of different key characters.

The final episode of the week will see the fall-out of the events, with Lauren’s fate still yet to be confirmed.

Speaking of the story, executive producer Iain McLeod said: ‘This week is so gripping and unlike anything Coronation Street has done before, in terms of the story-telling,’

‘It’s modern, really exciting and has some of our favourite characters right in the middle of the drama. The murder mystery around Lauren has had us all on the edge of our seats and the race against time across this week to solve it before Roy gets seriously hurt is so engrossing and cleverly plotted.’
