Sad Coronation Street exit ‘revealed’ for character after 14 years amid ‘harsh’ twist
Coronation Street may be lining up a shock exit for one character after 14 years on the ITV soap.
The character learned some alarming news, with him told he could be sent away after a killer crime landed him in trouble. While he protested his actions were not meant to cause harm, evidence suggested he knew the risks – and now he faces serious trouble.
Teenager Jack Webster was found out this week as being the person who set fire to Stefan Brent’s car. The blaze spread to his office and he was inside at the time, endangering his life.
Jack confessed his crime to stepmother Abi Franklin on Wednesday after she faced accusations. Jack then confessed all to the police and during Friday’s episode, he was interviewed by DS Swain.
He claimed he just wanted to make Stefan pay for his treatment towards Abi, and that he didn’t mean to cause harm. He told Swain that he only set fire to the car and didn’t know the damage it would cause, while also claiming he had no idea Stefan was inside the building.

But Swain soon revealed there was evidence that proved Jack did know Stefan was there before he caused the blaze. CCTV footage appeared to show him loitering outside the office, and Stefan was apparently clearly shown entering the building.
With this evidence came a tougher charge, with Swain advising the CPS to charge Jack with arson with the intent to endanger life. Jack sobbed over the news, as he feared for his future.
Lawyer Adam Barlow soon told his dad Kevin Webster that given his age and his lack of a criminal record, it was unlikely Jack would be sent to a youth detention centre. That said it was still a possibility, especially if Jack did not plead guilty.
His parents feared the charge was too “harsh” and that Jack did not intend to harm Stefan, so they didn’t want him pleading guilty knowing the impact it could have on his future. But Adam warned that if he pleaded not guilty, it would go to trial and could cause more problems for Jack. But what will Jack decide to do, and will he end up being sent away if he’s sentenced?
