Coronation Street are currently filming court scenes on location – that will see the return of a huge character.
A famous Newton and Ridley van – which is used by crew to transport equipment and props – was first spotted outside of the former magistrates court in Bolton last week.
Parking has also been closed off, and will continue to be for the remainder of this week.
The historic building on Le Mans Crescent regularly doubles as Weatherfield Crown Court in the ITV soap, which can only mean one thing – someone’s in trouble!
A number of other production vehicles were spotted, as well as Corrie favourite Georgia Taylor who plays Toyah Habeeb.
Whilst it could be speculated that the scenes filmed could be related to the mystery surrounding Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) death, which is currently ramping up on-screen, Georgia’s presence would suggest otherwise.
Viewers will undoubtedly be waiting for the sinister cult storyline to reach an end after being rested during recent months.
The plot saw Toyah’s sister Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) entwined in the suspicious Altovalent Institute. The leader Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper) preyed on her vulnerabilities, trying to get her to invest in a research centre and turn on her neighbours.
He also blackmailed Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), when he learnt that he’d been unfaithful and slept with Toyah.
After seeing his true colours, Leanne worked with Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) to bring him down. Amy had been conned out of £40,000.
We later heard that twisted Rowan had pleaded not guilty to blackmail and fraud, meaning the case will go to trial.
In October, actor Emrhys confirmed to Metro that he would be returning to close the story, presumably in the court scenes.
‘Yes – there’s a little bit more left’, he revealed.
‘I shot my final episode which is going to air later this year. There’s a little bit more drama ahead, a little twist. It’s been fun and I’d be open to it, if there was the right storyline, for a redemption.’
Will Rowan be sent down, and will the cult’s victims get justice?
