The end of one iconic Coronation Street couple has been confirmed in tonight’s episode, and it may be for the best.
Poor Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) was struggling with the concept of moving out of the family home following Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and Nick Tilsley’s (Ben Price) recent split.
After Leanne uncovered Nick’s affair with her sister, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor), Leanne called time on their relationship, and now Nick is on the hunt for somewhere else for him and Sam to live.
As Sam confided in Ruby Dobbs (Billie Naylor) that he didn’t want to move out, she suggested setting Leanne and Nick up on a date in the hopes of helping them get back together.
Sam was quick to jump on this idea, and decided to prepare a romantic meal for them.
This isn’t the first time Sam has attempted to steer Nick back in Leanne’s direction, having interrupted his flirting with a customer earlier this week, pointing out that Nick was still married.
After catching on, Nick advised Sam that their relationship was over, though Sam wasn’t prepared to give up.
Unfortunately, Nick and Leanne don’t look set to put their differences aside any time soon, given that they spent the entire day arguing.
Things took a worrying turn later in the day when determined Sam cut himself shucking oysters, and was rushed to hospital for stitches by Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey).
When Nick got there, he asked Sam what he had been doing, and Sam detailed his plan to reunite Leanne and Nick.
Nick carefully told Sam that he was never going to get back together with Leanne, and it seemed as though Sam was finally able to accept it.
But is this really the end for the iconic couple?
