Tina O’Brien confirms ‘odd connection’ to another Coronation Street villain that will lead to heartbreak
Coronation Street star Tina O’Brien has teased further heartbreak ahead for her character Sarah Platt – and it involves Gary Windass (Mikey North).
In recent scenes on the ITV soap we’ve seen Sarah come face to face with her daughter Bethany’s (Lucy Fallon) abuser Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper), in a plot to frame him for the murder of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
Armed with one of Lauren’s hair bobbles, she planned to place the ‘evidence’ into his van, but didn’t have to – bent copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) did it for her!
She’s since faced further questioning on the matter but has been told by Kit to keep shtum.
Last month, she was accused of having an affair with ex-boyfriend Gary, who is now married to Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon).
Viewers will remember that Maria had installed a hidden camera in their Victoria Court apartment to monitor son Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) after learning he’d been contemplating suicide.
The teen had been bullied by his peers Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) and Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) for months, and at one point was even threatened with a knife.
Sarah had her own woes, with criminal boyfriend Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) was sent down for his part in a botched robbery.
Bumping into Gary after buying a bottle of wine to drown her sorrows, he invited her to spend the afternoon with him after his own falling out with Maria that morning.
The two had a heart to heart, and when she became emotional, he hugged her.
However, it later became apparent that the incriminating footage would be available on Maria’s phone, and he rushed to destroy the evidence.
She caught them together again a few days later, but after throwing Gary out, the two later made amends with Sarah promising to keep her distance – but only after Gary viciously attacked Nathan.
‘She’s got this odd connection with Gary, they always had this ability to tell each other things that they wouldn’t tell other people’ Tina told us.
