Tragic despair as an attack sends shockwaves at devastating funeral in Coronation Street
There is despair ahead for Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) in Coronation Street when she lashes out at Rose’s funeral.
Earlier this year, Toyah dropped a shocking bombshell when she revealed that she had secretly given birth to stillborn daughter Rose in 2001, following her traumatic rape ordeal.
In recent scenes, she was arrested for murder after Rose’s body was found in the park, where Toyah had buried her all those years ago.
After being released pending further investigation, Toyah grew suspicious that cult leader Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper) had been responsible for reporting her to the police, in retaliation for her speaking out against The Institute – especially after Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) finally admitted that she had told him everything.
With police having released Rose’s body, Leanne offers to pay for her funeral out of her savings. Toyah previously opened up to Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) about how badly she wanted to give Rose a proper funeral, so she is quick to agree to Leanne’s offer.
However, as Toyah and the family gather outside the funeral parlour for George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) to place Rose’s coffin in the hearse, Toyah spots Rowan watching from Victoria Garden.
Furious that he has inserted himself into such a special, private moment, Toyah storms over and gives him a shove, much to Leanne’s horror.
With Toyah demanding that he stay away, Leanne is forced to admit that she had no savings, and it was Rowan’s money that paid for the funeral.
As Leanne heads off, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) is left in total despair, while Toyah stands up to Rowan.
Furious, Toyah insists that she will do everything in her power to expose him for what a vile man he really is, and it is clear that he is rattled by her.
Could Toyah finally be set to overthrow The Institute, or will Rowan come back even harder?
